Background and capabilities of our R&D group
Malå today has the broadest and most versatile product range of any GPR manufacturer. Furthermore, it has always been our goal to maintain full ownership and control of our own product line. Achieving this without a strong R&D group is not possible. Hence the R&D group has always constituted a large part of the company, both in staff numbers and, especially, in theoretical and practical competence.
All Malå's radar systems and subsystems have been developed within our R&D group, starting in the early eighties with the unique RAMAC borehole systems, the first truly digital impulse radar in the world followed in the early 90's by the RAMAC/GPR.
Besides having extensive knowledge about radar system designs and associated technologies the group also holds expert knowledge in the practical application of these systems.
A summarise of our R&D capabilities in a few areas of core-competence are:
- UWB (Ultra Wide Band)-antenna design including borehole, shielded and unshielded designs
- UWB-electronics design including sampler heads and impulse generators ranging from 50 to 2GHz in bandwidths
- Electronic and mechanical design for extreme environmental conditions
- Digital design for embedded systems
- Real-time systems
- Windows an Linux drivers and acquisition systems
- Graphical presentation and visualisation including image processing
- Advanced geophysical processing software
